STR’s project with director Suseenthiran is titled Easwaran. His physical transformation for the film had caught everyone’s eyes – STR had lost oodles of weight. Easwaran schedule which began last month went on for about 40 days.
With the shooting drawing to a close yesterday, STR treated the crew of the film to Deepavali gifts. About 400 of those who worked in the film were given 1 gram gold, veshti and sweets for Deepavali.
The crew was pleasantly taken by surprise. About 200 supporting cast received sarees-veshtis and sweets from the actor. The crew delivered their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the actor for his sweet gesture.
The film had courted controversy sometime back for allegedly shooting a sequence with a live snake. The makers later issued a statement that read: "The final shooting of 'Eeswaran' starring Simbu under the direction of Suchindran is in full swing. Recently a video was released in social media featuring Simbu catching a snake at the shooting site. In fact, we filmed the scene with something like a fake plastic snake. The scene will involve graphics.
In connection with a complaint made by a social activist in this regard, Forest Officer Clement Edison summoned us for an inquiry, and we co-operated fully with the inquiry and clarified our side of the story.
We will submit the evidence soon. The entire shooting of the film has been carried out under the guidance of the Government of Tamil Nadu. All news and photos related to the film will be duly sent to the media."
News and photos of the scene have not been officially released by the production company or others. This video was leaked by some people while doing computer graphics. We are investigating how the footage was leaked from our side.
