Post the controversies regarding the release of STR and Hansika starrer MAHA via OTT - The Chennai High Court has ordered the film production company to respond to a petition filed by the film's director seeking a ban on its release online.
‘Maha’ is directed by U.R.Jameel and is bankrolled by V.Mathiyalagan under his banner Etcetera Entertainment. In this case, the director has mentioned that the film was finished without his knowledge and hence Jameel has filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking an injunction restraining the production company from publishing the film via OTT.
In his petition, he says that the heroine Hansika, who is the flight attendant according to the story, falls in love with Simbu who comes as pilot Jameel. The girl baby born to them is killed and how the protoganist solves the mystery around the same forms the story. It has been alleged that some portions of the movie have been filmed by his assistant director without taking the necessary scenes for the story, editing the film without his knowledge, recording the background voice.
The production company, which agreed to pay 24 lakh rupees to direct the film, has paid only 8 lakh 15 thousand rupees and hence he has sought an order for the team to pay him the remaining 15 lakh 85 thousand rupees.
He also demanded that he be ordered to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation for finishing the film without his knowledge. Judge Krishnan Ramasamy, who heard the case, directed the production company, the assistant director Anju Vijay and assistant cinematographer John Abraham to respond to the petition by May 19 and adjourned the hearing.
