Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam breathed his last on September 25 which has left a huge void in the film and music industry. SPB had worked as a singer, actor, music director, dubbing artist and film producer in multiple languages. He had recorded over 40,000 songs in several languages in his career spanning five decades.
While millions of fans and celebrities and others are yet to come in terms with this irreplaceable loss, Behindwoods got in touch with Dr. Deepak Subramanian, who was one among the other doctors who treated the singer.
Earlier, he had shared a note recalling how he spent with the singer in the last 52 days. He also gave us an insight as to how humble and down-to-earth person the singer was! Nevertheless, he was taking things positively, then the sudden deterioration in his last 48 hours happened too fast for any medical intervention to help.
Explaining about the reasons why the singer could not be saved, the doctor said while a person is being treated using Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine, 3 things should always be kept in mind - infection, bleeding and blood clot formation. Singer SPB used to have mild infections now and then which subsides when anti-biotics were given. Unfortunately, on Wednesday afternoon, infections started to appear in his blood parameters. The rate of which the infection started to spread was so fast that no medicines could catch up and secondly, there was a light Intracranial bleeding in his brain and these two situations hit him together which the 74-year old singer could not handle in spite of the medications!
