Dhananjayan’s Blue Ocean Film and Television Academy (BOFTA) regularly conducts master classes for its students by bringing in ace filmmakers, actors and other technicians for an open discussion. The recent personality who spent more than 2 hours at the academy was producer/director Lingusamy.
Students probed the Anjaan director and he in return displayed enthusiasm while responding to them.
“A director should know a bit of everything. He should know to act, handle the camera and every other department. This characteristic will help a filmmaker in a big way”, said the director while proposing a general advice.
While talking about logic and realism in Tamil cinema, “No question should arise in the viewer’s mind while watching the film, which is vital. It is unavoidable if the same viewer sits down after the film, revisits a particular scene and criticises the logical hole. As a filmmaker, were you able to pin the viewer to his seat by striking a thunderbolt like energy through your scene? That is what matters”
He is a director who has faced both peak of success and failure with a lot of courage. While talking about that, he stated that one should be careful during the success phase because it is very crucial. “Nobody will project the actual scene to you nor will feedbacks come in. We also tend to behave with unnecessary arrogance”.
The experienced filmmaker appreciated BOFTA’s visionary approach. Stay tuned to Behindwoods TV, our official Youtube channel to catch the video of this session soon.
