Sivakarthikeyan and Mohan Raja’s Velaikkaran teaser has just released. The teaser starts off with a clock tower bell ringing and from thereon it is filled with massy elements all the way. Sivakarthikeyan, who has predominantly seen playing comedy roles seems to have a serious side to his character in this film. This is something different which has been attempted by Mohan Raja.
The technically sound teaser has a good background score dominated by Anirudh’s guitars and drums. The teaser seems to have shots of all the important characters that include Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, Vijay Vasanth, etc. But the best part is Fahadh Faasil’s intro and shots which are suave and stylish. It looks like his character is something to look forward to in Velaikkaran.
Velaikkaran seems to be Sivakarthikeyan’s first step into a majorly action based role and script. Just as in Mohan Raja’s Thani Oruvan, from the looks of this teaser, it is clear that there is a social angle and an issue addressed by the protagonist forming the crux of the story. Both Siva and Fahadh are seen wearing formals and seem to work for the same company. The entire teaser has a yellowish tinge or colour tone that is apt for the locality that the movie is based in.
On the whole, as a package, Sivakarthikeyan’s new avatar in Velaikkaran is something that is new to the star as he has never attempted an action based film dealing with a social issue. The mass elements have been fitted in for the commercial purpose and it seems to have a lot to offer. Just as in Thani Oruvan, a lot depends on the movie's screenplay which we would have to wait for, to witness in theatres.
