“ONE MONTH OF MUSIC THERAPY WITH ILAYARAJA SIR!”

Today, the 7th November, happens to be singer/composer Karthik’s birthday as well. Wishing him on this occasion, we spoke to the acclaimed musician about the year that went past and his future projects.

Songs and music composers
I have recorded many songs, 3-4 songs for Raja sir for Madura Manikoravan. He has sung a song in the film too. I have also recorded for AR Rahman sir, Yuvan and for Harris in Singam 3 and a few other composers in Tamil. I have sung in other languages, like for instance for Amit Trivedi and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in Hindi.

The year that went by
It has been wonderful for me. One beautiful thing happened was my tour with Ilayaraja sir wherein I got to sing some of the best songs ever made. Big shows, sold out concerts and people loved what I did, including Raja sir. This was the best thing to have happened to me. It was like one month of music therapy for me, being with him, being around him and playing his music. It was one of those things which I wanted to do and I think it happened in the most beautiful way; something that I will treasure for a long time.

Future projects
As a composer, I have not signed anything as I am busy with my concerts and recordings. I am also operating in Mumbai and traveling between Chennai and Mumbai. That is keeping me totally busy. The year has been fantastic and the coming year also looks to be very good.
