Recently, a famous musician and singer has expressed her love for classical music by sharing a short video of herself singing while dedicating it to a classical musician who has inspired her. Guess who?
Shashaa Tirupati, the voice of ‘Naane Varugiren’ from ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ had posted a video on Twitter of her singing a classical song, dedicating it to sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar.
The singer captioned the video, “ICON! Perhaps the first name I’d heard when ‘classical music’ was spoken of. Especially growing up in Canada, where I recall going with my parents as a kid to watch him perform: nothing short of a spectacle!”
Bharat Ratna award winning maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar was a famous sitarist and classical musician.
Shashaa Tirupati has had several collaborations with A.R. Rahman and won the National Award for ‘Vaan Varuvaan’ from the film ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’. She has been the voice of other songs such as ‘Paranthu Sella Vaa’, ‘Aye Mr. Minor’ and ‘Visiri’.
