The Bollywood industry has been left in shock after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the Mumbai drug bust case on Cordelia Cruises' Empress ship. Besides Aryan, his friends Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha have also been arrested in connection with the raid.
Aryan has been arrested under Section 8C, 20B, 27 read with 35 of the NDPS Act. He was among the eight people questioned after the raids. Shah Rukh Khan was seen leaving his home and heading for his lawyer's office shortly before the arrest was confirmed. The three will be produced in the Magistrate's court in Mumbai around 7 pm on Sunday.
Early today, it was reported that Aryan along with seven others was detained for interrogation. Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker and Gomit Chopra were also being questioned.
The NCB team boarded the Goa-bound ship disguised as passengers. The party began after the ship left Mumbai and was at sea. Drugs like Ecstasy, Cocaine, MD (Mephedrone) and Charas were recovered from the party on board the ship. They had hidden it in their clothes, undergarments and purses.
NCB sources said all electronic gadgets of Aryan Khan and the other accused were seized and scanned by the authorities to check for any indication of their involvement in the possession or consumption of drugs. Shah Rukh Khan and others haven't commented on the issue yet.
Aryan Khan is Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's eldest son. The couple also have a daughter, Suhana Khan, and another son, AbRam.
