In a shocking turn of event, popular actress-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar who recently hit the headlines when she quit Congress party and joined BJP, was arrested on Tuesday (October 27) by the police near Muttukkadu while she was on her way to Chidambaram to participate in a protest rally.
It all started when the hassle against the Chidambaram (SC) Member of Parliament and the VCK's leader Thirumavalavan began after a video surfaced where he was seen making some remarks against women. It was claimed that he spoke ill of women while citing Manusmriti, a perceived anti-feminist ancient code of conduct. But the VCK leader denied denigrating women and insisted he was working for their emancipation.
Demanding an apology, the actress was on her way to participate in the protest and got arrested as she is said to have violated prohibitory order to conduct the un-lawful assembly, owing to the lockdown rules prevailing in the State.
Taking to her social media, she tweeted, “Cowards #VCK. Dont rejoice. It’s your failure. Arrested bcoz they know we are a force to reckon with. We will not bow down. @BJP4India @narendramodi Ji shall take every step to ensure the respectability of every daughter of this soil.Darpoks VCK, respecting a woman is alien to you"
