Popular director and cinematographer KV Anand died of a heart attack this morning (April 30) at a private hospital in Chennai. Many film personalities including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are mourning his death.
KV Anand was a close friend of director Shankar. He has worked as a cinematographer in the latter’s films including 'Muthalvan', 'Boys' and 'Sivaji'.
Director Shankar, who mourned KV Anand’s demise, said, "Absolutely shocked. My heart feels so heavy... painful.Just can’t digest..I lost a very dear friend K.V a wonderful cinematographer, and a brilliant director.This loss can never be compensated. I will miss you my dear friend.R.I.P. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. " (sic)

KV Anand began his career in films as a cinematographer with his debut being Thenmavin Kombath in Malayalam and later turned to direction. Kana Kanden was his first directorial venture. KV Anand's last outing was 'Kaappaan' with Suriya, Arya, and Sayesshaa in the lead roles. The film was bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
