Shabeer, who debuted in Kollywood with Lakshmy Ramakrishnan’s Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathey, followed it up with 54321. Now he has signed Prabhu Deva’s Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja to play a role with a negative shade. We talk to the young talent to find out details.
How did you bag the role?
My friend Varun was the one who referred me to Prabhu Deva for this role. I am into a lot of fitness and apparently, it suited the character. Prabhu Deva sir liked my pictures with the long-bearded look which is a little unique. He wanted to meet me if I still had retained the same look as in the pictures. Thankfully, I was and it fitted the character that I was going to play.
What is your role like?
I play a negative role in the film. I would be starting my portion of the shooting from mid-July. It is a very good role.
Other pursuits
In the interim, I had worked as an AD In Ammani. I have also done Little Theatre’s Christmas pantomime production, 'Star Wars-A Panto Menace’. I am a part of their other production Garage Gang which had its shows in Chennai recently. In August I would be performing the Garage Gang in Malaysia.
Fitness
I am into Parkour and am training in Kalari. These things are definitely going to help me in my films. I am looking for negative roles too.
Other projects
I have done a Malayalam documentary for director Sethumadhavan’s son Santhosh. It is about poaching, titled ‘Where The Trees Sing’, which was released in the YouTube on the World Environment Day. I am in talks for few Malayalam projects. I would soon be finalizing.
We wish you the best Shabeer with all your endeavors!
