Santosh Sivan, in an exclusive interview to Behindwoods, has shared some surprisingly unique lesson of how he learned photography from his father.
His latest project was Darbar as a cinematographer, in which he worked along with Rajinikanth. Apart from being a DOP, Santosh had also turned Director and Producer for few films. He portrayed the lead character in Makaramanju, the role of Raja Ravi Varma, and actress Karthika Nair played his heroine.
In an exclusive online interview he had given to Behindwoods along with Director Rajiv Menon, the ace cinematographer revealed interesting details on his early photography training given by his father.
Incidentally, after school, Santosh Sivan had approached his father revealing his intention of learning photography. Complying to his son’s wish, Mr. Sivan had asked his son to go wipe all the photos in the main hall for 3 weeks. After that, he had asked the cinematographer about the minute details of the photos kept in the hall. Santosh Sivan recalled that this was the unique way by which he was taught the early lessons of photography.
