But did you know, Sanjay Dutt was actually the first choice for Katappa, eventually played by Sathyaraj but the same wasn't meant to be since the actor was caught in a legal tangle at that time in question! This was revealed by the film's writer, KV Vijayendra Prasad in a recent interview to TOI.
We must say that Sathyaraj indeed aced the role and we can't now imagine anyone else in his place! No offence to Dutt Saab!
Not just Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan too wasn't the first choice for the Sivagami character. Yes, talks were on with the late Sridevi but due to remuneration issues, the same didn't fructify. Ramya simply aced the role, didn't she?
