Pandit Jasraj's demise has shook the entire country. PM Narendra Modi, condoled the death of the legend. In his tweet honoring the deceased singer, he wrote, "The unfortunate demise of Pandit Jasraj Ji leaves a deep void in the Indian cultural sphere. Not only were his renditions outstanding, he also made a mark as an exceptional mentor to several other vocalists. Condolences to his family and admirers worldwide. Om Shanti."

Pandit Jasraj died of cardiac arrest in New Jersey, US, aged 90. He is reported to have passed away at 5.15 EST on August 17, 2020, in New Jersey, USA. Many musicians and singers have also marked their condolences for his death, including his granddaughter Shweta Pandit, who is familiar to the Tamil audience courtesy of songs like Idhayam from Billa 2.
