The makers of the highly-anticipated sports biopic 83 have decided to postpone the film due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. The film was initially scheduled to release on April 10.
The team conveyed this development in their official social media accounts which read "In the wake of the risks posed by the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will take a decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal."
Urging fans to take all the necessary precautions, the note ended in an optimistic way, "83 is a film about fighting the odds and we hope we all will bounce back from this soon." Directed by Kabir Khan, 83 stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Jiiva and others in important roles and tells the story of the Kapil Dev led World Cup-winning Indian cricket team.
83 is jointly produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, in association with Reliance Entertainment, Kabir Khan Films, Deepika Padukone and Madhu Mantena. Kamal Haasan will be presenting the film in Tamil under the banner RaajKamal Films Inernational along with YNOTx.
Many films have postponed their release date owing to the Coronavirus outbreak. The list includes the James Bond film No Time to Die, Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi and the Prabhu Solomon-directed drama Kaadan.
83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always comes first. Stay safe, take care
