A case filed in the Chennai City Civil Court against Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming Kaala, directed by Pa. Ranjith, has been dismissed. The petitioner, one Mr. Rajashekaran, had sued the film alleging that the title and the core story of Kaala are actually his intellectual property.
After hearing the case, it came to light that Rajashekaran had registered the title "KariKaalan" in the year 2006, and has not renewed it to date.
Also, since as per law, the City Civil Court does not have jurisdiction to decide on copyright issues, it advised the petitioner to approach the High Court instead.
When Superstar Rajinikanth reached the Chennai airport yesterday night (October 30) from Dubai after finishing the 2.0 audio launch, he made an important clarification to the media.
He has reportedly said that, "2.0 would release first and only after that Kaala would be released.", thereby putting a full stop to all the speculations.
It should be noted that Kaala's production house Wunderbar Films also announced yesterday that Kaala would not release in January, 2018.
