Actor Kamal had supported the cause and invited his fans and friends to stand by the Janata curfew too. Superstar Rajinikanth had also released an awareness video on the pandemic, but was removed by Twitter India, as the tweet's content was against the policy guidelines of the microblogging site.

The Annaatthe actor said that Indian to trying to avoid stage 3 community transmission of the Coronavirus and added that in Italy, a similar nationwide curfew was tried, but due to the lack of support from the citizens, the efforts failed and resulted in the death of thousands of people.

"We don't want such a crisis in India and I urge everyone to participate in the Janata Curfew. Let us also appreciate the selfless service of doctors, nurses and medical workers in these times by participating in the nationwide prayer at 5 pm." read Rajini's statement. Check out:
