The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) are on a strike, stopping new Tamil releases, shooting and post-production works from March 16 owing to high Virtual Print Fee costs by Digital service providers like QUBE and UFO.
In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, the co-founders of QUBE, Senthil Kumar and Jayendra Panchapakesan have answered many allegations and one among them is a clarification on why the cost is high. They said "We are providing high-end industrial projectors. Producers saying that this costs Rs 5 lakh is totally baseless. Our server alone costs Rs 5 lakh. The projector has forensic watermarking, the capability in the software to playback J2K format and other features. This e-cinema setup costs around Rs 10 lakh."
