We had reported earlier that, the theatre owners of Tamil Nadu, have decided to go on an indefinite strike which will have the majority of the theatres shut from Monday with regards to the sudden announcement of the municipal tax. However, the Producer Council does not seem to be happy with this decision because of the sudden announcement which happened 2 days ago that would affect the run of the released films that are doing well.
Reportedly the Producer Council is not with this decision by the theatre owners and they might have to assort to the DTH medium to release films in future. It has also been told that, those producers who do not support this decision by the Producer Council will not be supported by the Council.
However, SR Prabhu, Treasurer of the Producer Council has confirmed the DTH related news is completely false and tweeted "There is no such decision taken from @TFPCTN pls avoid speculations. Whole industry is against Entertainment Tax."
