Veteran Bollywood actor Chandrashekhar, who is best known for portraying the role of of Arya Sumant in Ramanand Sagar’s popular TV serial 'Ramayan', passed away at his residence in Mumbai due to age-related ailments. He would have been 98 next month.
Confirming the news, the official social media handle of CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes’ Association), expressed its condolences on the demise of the actor. He served as President of the association from 1985 to 1996. His last rites is set to be performed Pawan Hans Crematorium, Juhu at 4 pm today, CINTAA said in another post.

Chandrashekhar has acted in over 250 films and many TV shows. He started his career as a junior artist in the early 1950s and later, established himself as a lead actor in V Shantaram''s 'Surang' in 1954.
His other films include 'Mastana' (1954), 'Basant Bahaar' (1956), 'Kaali Topi Laal Rumaal' (1959), and 'Barsaat Ki Raat' (1960). His last film was ‘Khauff’ (2000).
