Pooja Devariya got the Best Actress- Critic’s Choice at the Behindwoods Gold Medals 2017 for her performance in Iraivi, Aandavan Kattalai and Kuttramae Thandanai.

In her acceptance speech, she said, “Although my screen time in these 3 films is limited, audience remembers me for my role and performance. I am thankful to my directors Karthik Subbaraj and Manikandan who are progressive to write such strong women characters.  I would like to reiterate that if a woman drives around her two wheeler or goes around the town with boys, it is not independence. She needs to have a balanced approach to understand and handle her problems; that I would call a true independence”.
