Parthiban's assistant director Krishnamurthy on Jayam Ravi's Comali story theft issue

Recently, the film has courted allegations of plagiarism from Mr. Krishnamurthy, who works as an assistant director to popular actor and filmmaker Parthiban. Krishnamurthy had alleged that the premise of Comali is borrowed from his script, which he had planned to direct with Parthiban in the lead.

In a recent interview to Behindwoods, he spoke about the similarities between his screenplay and that of Comali, and when the issue came to his knowledge. He said that " I came to know about the film through my friends to whom I had narrated my story."

He also said "The title of my script is 25+25=25. When I saw the poster designs, it became evident that the film is similar to my premise." He had also said that the members of writers' association had given a petition saying that Comali is similar to his screenplay. Krishnamurthy had mentioned that he pitched the script to Parthiban during the year 2011.

Krishnamurthy had also said that the  South Indian Film Writers Association and Mr K. Bhagyaraj had expressed cognizance regarding the issue. He had also said that the film will have a mention card in which the makers will acknowledge his source material.
