Just as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat starring Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone had finally got its release date of January 25, 2017, here is some bad news for the makers. Padmavat will reportedly not be released in the state of Rajasthan as stated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

In her recent statement to the media, Raje said, “Rani Padmini's sacrifice is a matter of honour and pride for the state and hence Rani Padmini is not just a chapter in history but our dignity. We will not allow defamation of her honour”. This decision to ban Padmavat in Rajasthan has come in at a time when Rajput outfits have already announced that they would protest when the film releases, at any cost. We shall have to wait to find out how the makers combat and get their film to audiences amidst this issue. Stay tuned.
