Superstar Rajinikanth’s next film with Kabali director Ranjith is set in Mumbai. Of late, rumours have been doing the rounds that this project is based on the life of Haji Mastan. Reports and speculations had also started spreading about it being related to the life led by Haji Mastan, who was a film financier, businessman and Tamil gangster from Mumbai.
Reports suggest that, post these rumours, Haji Mastan’s son had apparently sent a letter to Superstar himself asking him about the issue. The latest is that there is an official clarification in the form of a press note released by Wunderbar Films, the production company. This press note said:
“The idea of Superstar Rajinikanth’s 161st film with director Ranjith, being based on Haji Mastan’s life is completely false news. The movie is based in Mumbai but has nothing to do with late Haji Mastan. Rumours like these are false and I hope they ask us for clarification before spreading such fake news. Wunderbar Films’ Rajinikanth 161, is a totally different fictional story that is created and not adapted from anywhere.”
