The film also featured Adithya Bhaskar as junior Ram and Gouri Kishan as junior Jaanu in lead roles. The story revolves around the high school sweethearts who were united for a few precious hours after a class reunion. The movie not only did wonders at the box-office but also has etched deeply in our hearts.

Post the success of '96', it was remade in Kannada as '99' starring Ganesh and Bhavana in the lead roles and shoot of the Telugu remake of the film will be resuming soon. The Telegu remake features Samantha and Sharwanand who is popularly known in Tamil from his role in 'Engeyum Eppothum'.

And today exactly a year ago, this film was released and won several hearts and accolades. Celebrating the “1-year Evergreen Love Story”, Vijay Sethupathi shared a pic and thanked the director for it.
