NOT VASUNDHARA DAS BUT THIS HEROINE WAS SUPPOSED TO PLAY AJITH'S PAIR IN 'CITIZEN'!

Ajith was seen in various get-ups in the film. The movie, which released in 2001, also starred Meena, Vasundhara Das, Nagma, ‘Nizhalgal’ Ravi, Pandiyan, Devan, Ajay Ratnam besides others. Citizen was appreciated for its different storyline.

While Ajith was seen in dual roles in films such as Vaali, Asal, Billa and Villain, Citizen was different with much more get-ups. Ajith also had to undergo body transformation for his role in the film.

Originally, Sameera Reddy was supposed to act in the film but the role finally went to Vasundhara Das, who before this was seen in Kamal Haasan’s Hey Ram. She had also sung two songs in the film – Pookara… and I Like You. Deva had composed the music for the film with lyrics by Vairamuthu.

Saravana Subbiah received much praise for his debut film itself. The director and Ajith were supposed to come together for another feature but the same ultimately didn’t happen. Saravana Subbiah was also seen in cameo roles in a lot of films thereafter.
