Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsThe news of Mani Ratnam coming up with an epic anthology with 9 talented directors for 9 amazing stories has piqued our interest ever since the news of this project broke out! The team had come together as an initiative to raise several crores to help those in need in the Tamil film industry.
The nine-film anthology, presented by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Pachapakesan, is based on the nine rasas (emotions) - anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace and wonder.
The anthology will be helmed by the following nine directors - Priyadarshan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, Bejoy Nambiar, Rathindran Prasad, Arvind Swami (directorial debut), Vasanth S Sai and Sarjun KM.
The much-awaited teaser was revealed recently with the new release date - August 6 on Netflix. It is now known that Rs.15 crore has been donated to 12000 Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) workers. Beneficiaries get Rs.1,500 per month on the prepaid card for a period of six months. The stars and directors who worked in the anthology didn't take any salary. Indeed, a great initiative from the team of Director Mani Ratnam and Jayandra!
