Dhanush played the role of an ageing father in director Vetri Maaran's blockbuster drama Asuran. Also starring Manju Warrier, Ken Karunas, Teejay Arunasalam in important roles, The 'Vekkai' adaptation was produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu of V Creations.
Thanu had announced that Asuran will be having a Telugu adaptation, with Venkatesh and Priyamani reprising Dhanush and Manju Warrier's roles in the film. Titled Narappa, the film is also produced by V Creations, in association with Suresh Productions while Sreekanth Addala directs the film.
Narappa has cinematography by Syam K. Naidu while Marthand K Venkatesh and Gandhi Nadikudikar handle the editing and art departments respectively. The film is all set to hit the screens on May 14th.
