Director, screenwriter and actor late J. Mahendran is known for helming several classics such as Mullum Malarum, Udhiri Pookkal, Metti, Nenjathai Killadhe to name a few. The director was instrumental in shaping Superstar Rajinikanth's early career by casting him in acclaimed films namely Mullum Malarum and Johnny.
Recently, writer-director John Mahendran, son of Mahendran, shared a note which showed a note of the iconic Ketta payan punch dialogue from Mullum Malarum, in his own handwriting. Along with the tweet, John wrote a caption saying "For all Thalaivar fans, Appa's very own handwriting."
John has directed Vijay in the 2005 cult romance Sachein, produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu, and had also penned dialogues for the 2013 black comedy Settai.
Rajinikanth is currently playing the lead role in Siruthai Siva's upcoming film Annaatthe, which also stars Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu, Meena, Sathish, Soori and Prakash Raj in important roles.
