Popular socialist, veteran politician and Mathrubhumi MD MP Veerendra Kumar, died on May 28, 2020. He was aged 84. He had apparently suffered a heart attack.
M P Veerendrakumar has also served as Union minister and was a Rajya Sabha member as well. He was well-known philanthropist who served as the head of one of the largest and oldest newspapers of Kerala - Mathrubhumi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kerala Governor Arif Mohamad Khan, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former defence minister AK Antony and cine stars Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj, Nivin Pauly and many others have condoled his death.
