Meera Mitun is a successful Indian supermodel and actress based in Tamil Nadu, who had won the Miss Queen of South, Miss Tamil Nadu 2016 and the Miss South India beauty pageant titles respectively. Meera Mitun made her acting debut in the 2017 Tamil thriller 8 Thottakal directed by Sri Ganesh and has also acted in the 2018 Suriya-starrer Thaana Serndha Koottam, directed by Vignesh Shivan.
Meera Mitun had registered the trademark of a beauty pageant competition titled Miss Tamil Nadu DIVA under her name, which aims at conducting a beauty pageant on National level standards, as it includes grooming sessions and choreography lessons for the participants. But the proceedings of the event for this year has been disrupted as Meera has been receiving threat calls from the neighbouring city, Cochin.
The actress spoke to Behindwoods regarding this issue. She said "I had earlier worked as a Regional Director in Miss Tamil Nadu beauty pageant, which was headed by Ajith Ravi. But post-2017, I backed out of the project due to cretain differences. After that, I had registered and launched the Miss Tamil Nadu DIVA pageant, which provides a credible platform to groom models based in Tamil Nadu. Since then, I have been receiving death threats on behalf of Ajith Ravi and his accomplice, Joe Michael Praveen, who already has a criminal record. They have threatened me with murder and acid attacks if I choose to go ahead with the event. "
Meera Mitun has issued a complaint against Ajith Ravi, Joe Michael Praveen and Nirupama under the grounds of harassment and forwarded it to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. Meera Mitun had also sought out police protection for the Miss Tamil Nadu Diva 2019 event and its participants, thereby ensuring that the event takes place without any hindrance.
