Recently, Kadambur Raju, the minister of Information and Publicity in the Tamil Nadu Government announced that the special shows for the upcoming Diwali releases, Bigil and Kaithi, will be cancelled since tickets for those shows are sold at exorbitant rates.
After the announcement, there existed a certain amount of uncertainity regarding the future of these screenings. On 23rd October, just two days before the release of the two films, the minister tweeted from his official Twitter handle that a notice has been sent to the concerned officials regarding the cancellation of special shows.
The tweet has also mentioned that the notice has also directed theatre owners to refund the ticket amount to buyers. The tweet concluded by emphasizing that this move was done in order to curb the overpricing of tickets.

Bigil and Kaithi are two of the most anticipated releases of this year and both are slated to release on October 25. Bigil is produced by AGS Entertainment while Kaithi is bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures.
