AR Rahman has started composing for Mani Ratnam's next film. AR Rahman, Vairamuthu and Mani Ratnam had a five-day jamming session in Goa recently for this big-budget multi-starrer.
When we contacted veteran lyricist Vairamuthu's spokesperson to know more about this composing session, this is what we got to know, "The album will have six tracks in total, all written by Vairamuthu. AR Rahman has given us a rough composition for three of the tracks already. This will be another Agni Natchathiram kind of film from Mani Ratnam."
AR Rahman, who had performed in Hyderabad a few days ago, has reportedly opted out of actor Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, a biopic on Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who was known for his rebellion against the British in 1846. The composer has cited lack of time for himself and the already committed projects for opting out of the project.
Talking about this decision to the press, AR Rahman reportedly said, “Chiranjeevi is a fantastic actor and I have great respect for him. It’s a beautiful film and has a great story to tell. But I have other projects and my life is all over the place. I am also promoting my film (99 Songs, which he has produced and co-written). Sometimes I have to be practical about how much I can take up!” This historical film’s cast also includes stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Kiccha Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and others. An official announcement on the new music director is expected soon.
