Mani Nagaraj, Pencil director talks about his debut directorial

“It is worth the wait” exclaimed director Mani Nagaraj who has waited for close to three years for his debut directorial to see the light of the day. Pencil starring GV Prakash is all set to hit the big screen this week on the 13th of May. Mani Nagaraj takes time to recount the incidents that led to this project while talking to a Behindwoods correspondent.

“I used to assist Gautham Menon and when I decided to go ahead and make a film, GV Prakash, being my very good friend encouraged me and extended his full support. When Kalsan movies accepted to fund my story I pitched in the idea of making this GV’s acting debut. He agreed and a small project became big with him signing on the dotted lines.

Many are perceiving this as a horror film. I would like to clarify that this a thriller and is based on how the educational system in our country has become commercial. This makes me confident that the audience won't have any trouble in connecting to the tale even though it's a three year old product. Pencil is not time restricted”.

Mani is also confident that GV’s current image as a successful hero is going to add a lot of value to his film that also marks the debut of Shariq Hassan, son of Uma Riaz and Riaz Khan.

We wish team Pencil the very best!
