The Madras High Court has granted conditional bail to VJ Chitra's husband Hemnath, who was arrested for abetting the suicide of the popular television star.
Actress Chitra died by suicide on December 9 last year and was just 28 at the time of her demise. Nazarapet police registered a case and begun an investigation. Her husband Hemnath was arrested and imprisoned for inciting Chitra to take the extreme step.
Following this, Hemnath filed a petition in the Madras High Court, seeking bail. The Madras High Court today granted conditional bail to Hemnath in the ensuing hearings on the petition. Hemnath has been granted bail with conditions including that he should stay in Madurai.
Actress Chitra became famous with the Pandian Stores serial that currently airs on Vijay Television. Although she initially worked as a presenter on TV shows, it was the Pandian Stores serial that took her to the pinnacle of fame.
