In a shocking news that has flashed the screens, it is known that the legendary actress Maheshwari Amma, better known by her stage name KPAC Lalitha, passed away on Tuesday, February 22 at the age of 74 at a hospital in Kochi, Kerala.
Born on February 25, 1947 in the Alappuzha district, Lalitha made her mark as a theatre artist before foraying into cinema. The actress had emerged as one of the finest actors across south cinema.
Apart from acting in Malayalam movies, she also has acted in Tamil in movies like Kaatru Veliyidai, Kireedam, Paramasivan, Ullam Ketkume, Alaipayuthey, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai to name a few. She was also a part of Vijay Sethupathi’s Maamanithan and RJ Balaji’s Veetla Visheshanga which are yet to be released.
Lalitha had featured in over 550 films and has two National Awards to her credit. The actress was mostly popular for her roles as a mother. She made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Kootukudumbam.
She was married to the late Malayalam filmmaker Bharathan and is survived Siddharth, her son is also a filmmaker and actor in Malayalam cinema and Sreekutty, daughter.
