'Aayirathil Oruvan', released in the year 2010, starred Karthi, Reema Sen, Andrea Jeremiah and Parthiepan. The story, that revolved around discovering the existence of the Chola dynasty, received mixed reviews in the box office, but became a cult-classic in the years that followed.
Selvaraghavan, the director of the movie, who had currently wrapped up the shoot of 'Saani Kaayidham' where he is all set to make his acting debut, took to Twitter to talk about the movie. He revealed that the budget of the action-adventure film was 18 crore but announced it as a 32 crore film to "hype it as a mega budget film."
His post reads: "The actual budget of #aayirathiloruvan was 18 crores. But we decided to announce it as a 32 crore film to hype it as a mega budget film. What stupidity! Even though the film managed to collect the actual budget it was regarded as average! Learnt not to lie whatever the odds are!" The latest post is grabbing eyeballs from fans and is going viral on social media.
