He was buried at his farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam village of Thiruvallur district. He was laid to rest with state honours, as announced by Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaswami. Several fans and celebrities were present there.

Now, taking to his social media, his son, SP Charan has shared a few photos of the rituals that was being performed and turned emotional. He wrote, “Getting to terms with reality”. Indeed, the singer’s death was least expected and came as a sudden shock to millions.

SPB had worked as a singer, actor, music director, dubbing artist and film producer in multiple languages. He had recorded over 40,000 songs in several languages in his career spanning five decades.
