Sigai directed by Jagadeesan Subbu would be having its grand world premiere at the All Lights India International Film Festival on the 25th of September in Hyderabad. The film was selected amongst many entries to partake in the prestigious 'International Competition for Debut Director's Films' program and will have a red carpet premiere in Hyderabad.
The film has the editing of Anucharan Murugaiyan, cinematography of Navin Kumar and music of Ron Yohann. It stars Kathir of Madha Yaanai Koottam fame as the lead along with Raj Bharath, Rhythvika and Rajesh Sharma, and introduces actress Meera Nair in a pivotal role
Hero Kathir shares his excitement with behindwoods, “We are so happy about Sigai’s feat. I will be attending the festival and the red carpet premiere on 25th.
People tend to think that if films are chosen for festivals, it would be ‘award padam’. But I would like to state that Sigai is a commercial, fast, emotional crime thriller with comedy elements but the main knot would be different. It happens in just one day; starts on a particular night and ends on the next night.
I have not donned multiple roles in the film but multiple get-ups. The basic concept of Sigai is that one can judge someone with the hair design”.
About arriving at that particular popular look of him, Kathir explains, “There are two characters in Sigai and we were finalizing the look of these two. That’s when we felt that there was an emotion connected with a story telling in that look (girl avatar). You would also have realized that it is too powerful. The image had created a huge buzz and we ourselves did not expect this. We had to work for this character a lot, although it’s time in the film is too short. But it had a lot of genuinity which could be the reason for its popularity.
I had to do threading for that look and since then, whenever I see girls, I used to wonder if they had done threading or not”.
Sigai is aiming for a theatrical release in November.
We wish you the best Kathir and Team Sigai!
