It is official that 14,000 tickets have been sold out in 5 days. Kasi theatre’s Twitter handle read, “Its housefull #Mersal at Kasi for all the 5 days. Popular film distributor Sakthivelan has urged Vijay to raise his voice against online piracy. His statement comes after a political party leader claimed that he watched Mersal online using a pirated copy.
Sathivelan's tweet reads as follows, "இது சரியான தருணம். இணையத்தில் முறைகேடாக படம் பார்ப்பதற்கு எதிராக @actorvijay அவர்கள் குரல் கொடுக்க வேண்டும். #Mersal #Save_cinema"
A vivid English translation is as follows: ''This is the right time. Vijay should give a statement against people who are illegally watching films through online"
