Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi is hitting the marquee tomorrow, the 3rd June. Talented Karunakaran plays an important role in the film and he shares all about it with behindwoods:
Your role
"You would have heard about boy-next-door. But in Iraivi, I would be boy-behind-the-door. I play Ramesh, who is an expert in breaking open the locks. Most of my portions will be with Vijay Sethupathi, S J Suryah and Bobby Simhaa. My role is humorous and also performance based".
How was it shooting with your favorite team?
"This time I was not able to spend much time with them as I was shooting for Gethu in Goa and was shuttling between Goa, Kanchipuram and Kerala. It was overall a superb experience working with Karthik Subbaraj and the same team".
SJ Suryah
"I am so happy to have worked with SJ Suryah sir, a great director who has given hits with both Thala and Thalapathy. He absolutely has no airs and is so simple. Even when Karthik will be in a serious mood, we all used to sit with SJ Suryah sir and have fun. He is such a lively and a nice person. He also used to give us fitness tips and reiterated the benefits of exercises".
Anjali
"I am a big fan of Anjali. In my first film Kalakalappu, she was the heroine. She is still the same and has not changed one bit. It was wonderful working with Anjali and also Kamalini".
A scary episode
"In Kerala, we were shooting at a very old temple. My portion was said to happen in the evening. People had warned us about snakes there. I am someone who would keep my feet up when snakes come on TV.
As per the scene, I had to run around the temple. It was like a forest and was so dark. I was petrified. Karthik made me run around thrice in that abode of snakes. I can never forget him. Even when I was acting, it was kind of ok, but the run after the ‘cut’ was so scary and unforgettable.
And after all this, to my shock, when I was dubbing, the scene was not there. I glared at him (Karthik Subbaraj) and he said it was not required. What to do!!!!"
Anyways, we are sure you are going to rock in Iraivi too, Karunakaran. Wishing you the best!
