KAMAL HAASAN BREAKS SILENCE ON PM MODI'S SPEECH WITH A "TORCH" JIBE

In response to the announcement, actor and politician Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the speech. Expressing that he had great expectations over the speech, the tweet read, "(Expected PM to address issues such as) safety equipment, availability and distribution of essential commodities, livelihood of the poor and the measures to revive the economy. Instead he spoke about the torch which we took up way back."

Torch is the symbol of Kamal Haasan's party Makkal Needhi Maiam. The actor has been vocal about the issues concerning the safety of health workers who are handling the Coronavirus outbreak.
