"I HAVE LOST A BROTHER...": KAMAL HAASAN'S TEARFUL TRIBUTE TO FILMMAKER GN RANGARAJAN

Tamil filmmaker GN Rangarajan, the man behind several popular films such as 'Meendum Kokila' (1981) and'Kalyanaraman' (1979) passed away today due to age-related ailments. He was 90.

His son GNR Kumaravelan took to Twitter to share the news of his father's untimely demise. "My Father, my mentor, my love ... passed away today morning around 8.45 am. Need all your prayers to keep my family in strength," he said while posting a photo of his father.

GNR who became acquainted with Actor Kamal Haasan, worked with him in nine movies including 'Kadal Meengal'(1981) and 'Maharasan'(1993). Paying tribute to the late filmmaker, he admitted that he "lost a brother who showered unconditional love to him".

"From the time I joined the cinema industry, till the time he passed away, GN Rangarajan loved me unconditionally," said the actor-turned-politician in a letter he shared on social media.

He noted that GNR built a house and named it 'Kamal illam' because of the love that he had for him. "Not just in movies, he used to even appreciate me when I worked for people," he added.

GN Rangarajan was associated with Director SP Muthuraman in many films including 'Bhuvana Oru Kelvi Kuri'(1977), 'Aaril Irundhu Aruvadhu Varai'(1979) and 'Priya'(1978). Kumaravelan, who is well known for Tamil films 'Haridas'(2013) and 'Wagah'(2016) and is currently working on Arun Vijay’s 'Sinam'.
