Coimbatore South was a much debated constituency and looks like we have a nail-biting finish. At around 5 this evening, all three chief candidates – Kamal Haasan from MNM, Vanathi Srinivasan from the BJP and Mayura S Jayakumar from the Congress were giving a tough fight to each other but now looks like Vanathi has taken the lead and won. She has beat Kamal Haasan by over 1500 votes. This also means that so far, Kamal’s party has registered zero victories.
Vanathi Srinivasan took to Twitter and wrote -
We have won! Thank you Kovai South for your support & blessings. I bow down to my voters, to my leaders, PM @narendramodi ji, HM @AmitShah ji, Nat'l President @JPNadda ji, GS(O) @blsanthosh ji & all @BJP4TamilNadu karyakarta for their hard work & dedication.#KovaiSouth4Vanathi

Elsewhere, the DMK has taken a comfortable lead in considerable constituencies. Political leaders like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav have already started conveying their heartiest congratulations to MK Stalin, who’d be the third person from the DMK to ascend to the chief ministerial throne after Anna and M Karunanidhi.
Incumbent Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami is comfortably leading in his constituency. ADMK has performed well in the Kongu belt. Elsewhere, up in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee retains Bengal, so is the case with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who returns to a second consecutive term in the neighbouring state. BJP has taken massive leads in Assam and Puducherry.
