KAJOL TO LOSE HER MEMBERSHIP?

Actress Kajol was appointed as a part-time member of the Prasar Bharati Board and her responsibility was to watch over the functioning of the public broadcasters like All India Radio and Doordarshan.

As per the rules of the board, she had to have attended the meetings, but since she did not do the same, her membership will cease to exist. According to the provisions of the Prasar Bharati Act, members absent without taking permission for three consecutive board meetings are understood to have ‘vacated the office’.

The issue of Kajol's repeated absence had also figured in a recent meeting of the Prasar Bharati board. Kajol’s spokesperson had apparently mentioned that her professional commitments and medical exigencies at the personal level were the reasons for her absence which were stated to be beyond her control.
