Actor Suriya recently announced that his production house 2D Entertainment inked a major deal with Amazon Prime Video and will release four movies on the popular OTT platform over the next four months. He also announced the titles of the same - ‘Jai Bhim,’ ‘Udanpirappe,’ ‘Oh My dog’ and ‘Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum’.
Stills from the sets of 'Udan Pirappe', directed by Era Saravanan went viral on social media today (August 19). The movie stars Jyotika and Sasikumar in lead roles and is touted to be a rural drama.
Last year, Jyotika's words at an award function went viral, causing ripples at social, professional and political circles. She received abuse, hate and all manner of comments from people. Speaking at the event, Jyotika highlighted the need to donate to hospitals as much as temples (here, in particular - Thanjavur Brihadeeswarar Temple). Clarifying the issue surrounding the same, Era Saravanan, a year later penned a post on social media.
Revealing that the issue was when 'Udan Pirappe' shoot was happening at Thanjavur, Saravanan said the team was shooting near Raja Mirasudhar Government Hospital. "She saw how pregnant women and mothers were waiting outside the hospital. The sight of a mother struggling at a cramped space with her newborn destroyed her after which she expressed her helplessness and pity regarding the situation."
Saravanan recalled that Jyotika didn't stop with talks alone. "She went and gave the hospital 25 lakhs. When he speech went viral and created a massive controversy, the government allocated funds for the hospital's infrastructure and welfare. The then dean of the hospital also made efforts to remove encroachments around the area."
"When the area surrounding the hospital was cleaned, there were more than ten snakes which were caught. All this good change happened after Jyotika's speech," he added.
