Jyothika's Magalir Mattum, which released last Friday on the 15th of September, was received well by the public, especially by the family audience.
According to the Behindwoods Box Office Analysis wing, this Bramma directorial has collected an approximate of 97.13 lakhs and has got an above average opening at the Chennai box office. The film has opened up with 255 shows, and with a good report from the family crowd, we might expect the show counts and collections to go on a steady rise.
Actress Shobana, who was a part of Magalir Mattum, was seen playing the younger version of actress Bhanupriya in the flashback portion of the film. In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, she talked about her experience with Bramma, Suriya and Jyothika. She said:
“It was a lovely experience working in Magalir Mattum and Bramma’s audition was very different. He asked me to enact Bhanupriya’s song and gave me one week time to portray a character that she played before. Since I did it well, I was chosen to play her younger version.
The first time Jyothika and Suriya spoke to me, they said I am doing a good job with my character. It was a dream for me to get into the film industry right from childhood and I come from a family that gets the girls married at a young age. However, when my family forced me to marry, I tried to commit suicide and eventually I was given freedom to do what I love. I don’t believe in early marriage and I don’t have a boyfriend. But I wouldn’t mind a boyfriend at this age. I like bad boys only.”
