While Hollywood movies have placed their importance on BGM and OST, songs by and large have been a significant part of our cinematic culture and tradition.The tradition can be attributed to Tamil cinema's origin where dramas and musicals were used to entertain the audience.
 

A Rajinikanth movie will feel incomplete if it doesn't feature a song which conveys a message. Similarly every actor is associated with a genre of song- Vijay with Kuthu songs and Ajith with intro songs to name a few. Tamil cinema has evolved a lot through the years but to this day songs have not lost their relevance and have been an important part of Tamil movies.
