James Cameron, arguably the world's biggest filmmaker in terms of sheer grandeur and enormity of his projects, opened up in a recent interview about his five-part magnum opus, Avatar. From the reports, some bytes on the movie:
1. James wants people to watch the films in glasses-free 3D
2. The technology involved in the film has taken his team a year and a half to just figure out: underwater motion-capture technology - something he claims has “never been done before.”
3. The motion capturing has been done with use of markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras.
4. He has apparently "thrown a lot of horsepower, innovation, imagination and new technology at the problem".
5. The majority of underwater scenes will take place in Avatar 2 and 3.
6. All four films are being shot back-to-back with release dates set for 18 December 2020, 17 December 2021, 20 December 2024, and 19 December 2025.
We had reported earlier that, James Cameron’s Avatar 2 shoot had begun a week ago. The latest reports suggest that, Titanic actress Kate Winslet who had collaborated with James Cameron 20 years ago, will be back for the Avatar sequels.
Talking about Kate Winslet in the forthcoming Avatar films, James Cameron told Hollywood media, “Kate and I have been looking to work on something interesting, since our collaboration on ‘Titanic,’ which happened to be one of the most rewarding films of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.” It is going to be exciting to see the actress back with the legendary director after 2 decades.
