Director Vijay will be helming Thalaivi, the forthcoming biopic that stars National Award-winning Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. Produced by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R. Singh, this multi-lingual project is based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
Thalaivi also stars actor Arvind Swamy in a crucial role. Producer Vishnu Induri took to his official Twitter account to post that the film's shoot has commenced the shoot for the project on 10th November.
On the technical front. Thalaivi is shot by Vishal Vittal while GV Prakash Kumar will be composing music for the film. Writer K.V. Vijayendra Prasad has co-written the script. To portray the Jayalalithaa's role, Kangana Ranaut reportedly took Bharathnatyam and Tamil diction lessons.
Apart from Thalaivi, there are two biopics on the pipeline that are based on J. Jayalalithaa's life, namely the Ramya Krishnan-starrer Queen, a web-series that is jointly directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasanth Murugesan, while the other being 'The Iron Lady' which has Nithya Menen portraying the actor turned politician.
